Turkish Foreign Minister Plans Visiting Ukraine

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Ukraine on May 29-30, following an invitation from his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, according to diplomatic sources.

During his visit, Fidan is anticipated to meet with key Ukrainian leaders, including Leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Premier Denys Shmyhal.

He will also hold bilateral discussions with top officials such as Sybiha, head of Ukraine's Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov—who led the Ukrainian delegation during the Istanbul talks between Ukraine and Russia on May 16, 2025, the sources noted.

The agenda will focus on exploring opportunities to enhance bilateral ties, particularly in areas like commerce, energy, defense, and security.

These discussions will build upon the cooperation formed under the strategic partnership between Ankara and Kyiv.

Furthermore, Fidan is set to reaffirm Türkiye's steadfast support for Ukraine’s "territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence."

He will also address the increasingly severe adverse effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, underscoring the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution and the pursuit of a fair and lasting peace.

In this context, Fidan is expected to emphasize Türkiye's willingness to continue contributing to peace efforts, including hosting further negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

In addition, Fidan will express Ankara's readiness to assist in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and stress the critical importance of ensuring safe navigation in the Black Sea region.
