Turkish Equities End Session Lower

(MENAFN) Turkey’s primary equity indicator finished Wednesday’s trading at 11,286.81 points, reflecting a 0.55% decline compared with the prior session’s closing level.

The BIST 100 began the day at 11,338.73 but shed 62.02 points relative to Tuesday’s finish as selling pressure weighed on the market.

During the session, the benchmark touched an intraday low of 11,250.46, while the highest level recorded was 11,364.52, highlighting moderate volatility throughout the day.

Out of all sectoral and sub-indexes, 54 registered losses by the close, whereas 42 managed to end the session with gains.

Trading activity was robust, with daily turnover totaling 113.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.66 billion). Meanwhile, the aggregate market capitalization of the index stood at 10.58 trillion liras ($248.1 billion).

In currency markets, the dollar/lira rate reached 42.7235 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT). The euro was quoted at 50.2425 liras, while the British pound changed hands at 57.1865 liras.

On the commodities front, gold was priced at $4,335.60 per ounce, and Brent crude oil traded at $59.70 per barrel.
